Navigating through the local search ecosystem may seem time-consuming, but it is well worth it. To submit your chiropractic business to online directories, you will want to start with the three major search engines: Google, Bing and Yahoo. While this is the best place to get started, your directory submissions should not stop there. That is why a clear understanding of the local search ecosystem is important.
Much like a tree branches out from its roots to the canopy, the three major search engines pull information from several smaller online sources. The search engines try their best to provide the most accurate information, but sometimes you need to search deeper and edit or even add your chiropractic listing to the smaller directory sources. It is absolutely essential that you maintain an accurate record of the information you submit to the online directories. The tiniest bit of inaccurate information can spread like wildfire, making it more difficult to keep track of what business information is listed on the web. If an online directory shows your business with the wrong name, address or phone number, search engines will mark that listing as a separate business altogether.
There are a massive amount of online directories. One way to make things a little simpler is to submit to three of the major online data sources on the web: Acxiom, Localeze and Infogroup. If you want to submit online directory entries or want to correct inaccurate listings already on the web, this is where you would get started. These data sources provide nearly all of the important online directories which list your business information. Acxiom, Localeze and Infogroup may even override your business listings from the three major search engines.
You may already be familiar with some of the small directories that these three data sources submit to like Super Pages, Yellow Pages and City Search. Other sources they include are Yelp, Apple’s Siri, and social media networks such as Facebook and Google+. Yelp and Siri listings are the leaders in the mobile user experience and serve as extremely helpful for prospective patients who primarily rely on their mobile devices to locate local businesses. Google, Yahoo and Bing scan these primary and secondary directories on a regular basis, so keep a consistent and accurate listing across the board.
