New Features in AdWords for 2014

If you use AdWords to promote your business on Google, you know that AdWords is constantly improving its program by enhancing and adding new features. Some of the key changes that took effect in 2013 included location and time-based bid management, enhanced sitelinks, and dynamic remarketing among many others. Talk of features already in the works for 2014 and other that have already been released will prove to be another eventful year for AdWords, so be sure to stay tuned!

More Integration with Google Services

Naturally, businesses will choose to promote their products and services whenever possible, especially if it’s over their competitors’ services, and Google is no different. In the past, AdWords location extensions allowed users to enter their location manually, as well as allow you to connect your location using Google Places. Now, a user can only connect their location with their ads through Google+. AdWords also took social extensions to a self-promotional level by allowing only Google+ as a social network option and no longer allowing extensions for Facebook or Twitter.

Ads Are Becoming More Apparent

Google Ads Are Becoming More Apparent

Say “goodbye” to the subtle peach backdrop and “hello” to obvious ads. Google now clearly marks all of its AdWords listings with a yellow tag labeled “Ads.” This more clearly differentiates paid from organic search result listings, which provides a more transparent user experience for the Googler and also helps promote the AdWords program to potential new advertisers.

Product Listing Ads Are Becoming More Prominent

Product listing ads (PLAs) are moving from the right side of the search result pages to more prominent positioning above standard text ads. This may result in more traffic for PLA campaigns and less traffic for standard text campaigns due to the higher exposure. If you have the opportunity to use PLAs to advertise your business, I would suggest taking advantage of this feature.
