Online Reputation Management Tips

By:
Managing your business’ online reputation can be a challenge, not to mention a time investment. While reputation management can be a full-time job, there are several steps you can take to streamline the process and make it more efficient.

Google Alerts

First thing you should do is set up “Google Alerts” for the name of your business. Navigate to Google Alerts and complete the information regarding what alerts you want, the types of results, how often you would like to receive them, and where they should be delivered. Choose an email address you check regularly so you can respond in real time.

Claim Your Yelp Page

Even if you have not set up a Yelp page for your business, it may already exist. Yelp allows users to create pages for local businesses that don’t already have a page in order to leave a review. One of the best ways for local businesses like dentist, optometrists, and yoga studios to manage their reputation is to claim their Yelp page or create a Yelp page.

Yelp for Businesses

Go to Yelp to search for your business in your city. If a page does not exist for your business, create a page for your business. You will be required to set up an account. It is recommended you set up a business account so you can take advantage of Yelp’s advertising options later on.

Social and Hashtag Searches

Other great ways to manage your online reputation are by creating a strong presence on social media and by searching hashtags. Setting up your social media presence (link to blog) can take some extra effort, but you can thereafter create a schedule for posting. Certain networks, like Facebook and Google+, allow users to leave reviews for businesses on the business’ page. Pay attention to any new reviews (you can set up email alerts) and respond to all reviews, both positive and negative reviews. The best way to react to negative reviews is by asking satisfied clients and patients for positive reviews.

Client reviews on Social Media

Hashtags are popular ways to tag people, places, and businesses in social media posts. Hashtags can be used on Facebook and Google+, but they are most popular on Twitter. You can use hashtags to your advantage by searching on social networks and even Google for a hashtag of your business name. It’s a great way to see what people are saying about your business online.
